With the inclusion of climbing in the 2020 Olympics, this past year has been unlike any other for athletes hoping to earn a spot. It’s been a very long season and there’s still so much more to come! The 2019 @ifsclimbing World Championships is the first stop for anyone hoping to qualify for the Olympics and probably the most competitive of the 3 competitions in which you can qualify. I’ve watched @brookeclimbs have some amazing moments in competitions this year, like at the @usaclimbing Combined Invitational as well as having to deal with so many heart breaking results, like narrowly missing semi finals by a spot or two in most of the bouldering world cups this year. No matter what happened, she handled it like a pro and kept moving forward. In addition to taking on a rigorous comp season she made the choice to start her freshman year at USD knowing that she’d have to make adjustments to her schedule and not be able to attend every competition. Some people thought this was too much, but Brookie knew she could handle it, and her determination to do things her way inspires me and makes me so proud! I’m at a loss for words because I am so excited for and proud of you cookie!!! I always knew you could do it, but as every comp climber knows, nothing is ever a sure thing! When I first moved to Boulder you were a little kid who wanted me to make up dances at practice, and who created a training workout for me when I was competing in my first Vail World Cup. Once you started competing in the adult competitions you became my favorite climbing buddy and best iso coach ever!!! Congratulations Brookie (my little sister) and the first American climber to qualify for the @2020年東京オリンピック Olympics ☺️💪✨❤️!!!
