Magic moment or tourist set up? Both. The famed fishermen of Inle lake are now actors for tourist cameras, paid for by tour operators. Why fish when you can pose for a lot more money. But it still takes a good photographer to capture the right moment when subject, light, and composition come together. Saw many a good frame from my group of workshop shooters, but not one real fishermen catching fish with a dip net. My next workshop will be in Hokkaido, Japan from February 2-16, 2020, a winter photography workshop. Human nature is a real thing. As hobby or professional photographers we long for the human experience. Which is sadly disappearing due to technology. This means cultures are dying but also that people are getting richer and quality of life is improving. At least to some standards. What do you think about this @yamashitaphoto ? I live longing for a simpler life, that's why I admire people who live in a simpler more traditional way. But at the same time I got the comfort of the newest technology at my fingertips. Is it all romantic?

Yeah, it's the same with the mine workers of Ijen. Just that they still carry huge loads of sulfur rocks up the hill. The money they get from tourists isn't enough. Beautiful work ✌🏻as always
