'I don't want it all to be pretty – it's a combination of loss and gain. Things are born, live and hang in limbo. That's what life's about.' - Cornelia Parker
Parker’s work frequently transforms the nature of an object or material through the use of extreme force. She has crushed, stretched and exploded numerous objects, like a shed in this artwork.
Cornelia Parker, Cold Dark Matter: An Exploded View 1991, Tate collection.

This is still one of my favourite ever installations that I have ever witnessed...I was at art school - it come up in my research and after sticking photocopies in my sketchbook and dreaming about it, got to see it and it blew me away (pun intended) Even after all this time it still comes up in conversations I’m having 🙏😎❤️

I also saw this when first shown at the Tate more than20 years ago. A powerful frozen vertical moment in time. I’ve written about it and thought if it many times.

It’s a beautiful piece. I wish I could see it. Spent a month in London end of last year and went to the Tate Modern nearly every week!

First commissioned by @chisenhalegallery in 1991, who continue to commission ambitious projects by artists to this day.
