Mr. President: it’s not about what you say. It’s about what you do.

I know that Bernie himself doesn't check this and I know that this message will go ignored. It won't matter in the long run. But I just want to say that I am a social democrat; I support universal healthcare, I support free childcare, I support UBI. I even support the legalization of all drugs. But I cannot support an unconstitutional "assault weapons ban". Why? Because we as liberals know that the police are racist and corrupt. We also know that white supremacy is on the rise. We know that the government violates our rights every day through the NSA's mass surveillance program. To me (and many others), it's the exact opposite of "common sense" to pass legislation that will leave minorities and the poor defenseless. I do support things like opening up the NICS system for public use. I support training programs for CCW permits (as long as they are affordable and scheduled flexibly).

@sophiakstiles “Everything I have seen and heard in my short life has led me to believe that the average American isn’t willing to change their lifestyle, even if the changes only cause a slight inconvenience. The government is unwilling to tackle these issues beyond empty promises since they are owned by corporations. Corporations that also like immigration because more people means a bigger market for their products. I just want to say that I love the people of this country, but god damn most of y’all are just too stubborn to change your lifestyle. So the next logical step is to decrease the number of people in America using resources. If we can get rid of enough people, then our way of life can become more sustainable.” Really sounds like Trump, right?🙄

@sophiakstiles “My ideology has not changed for several years. My opinions on automation, immigration, and the rest predate Trump and his campaign for president. I putting this here because some people will blame the President or certain presidential candidates for the attack. This is not the case. I know that the media will probably call me a white supremacist anyway and blame Trump’s rhetoric. The media is infamous for fake news. Their reaction to this attack will likely just confirm that”

@needa_change_my_profile The question was rhetorical. Yes, that's how the system works, and that's why it's dysfunctional. It is based on an outdated electoral system that leads to some people having heavier representation than others and thus a legislature that enacts laws and policies that aren't wanted by the majority of the people. If you don't think this is a problem, then you don't really care about democratic principles.

People on here. “Donald trump and this administration are nazis and are killing the American people and immigrants... this is getting out of hand”
Also people on here
“Please take my gun rights away.”
A group of people who are so anti government really want the government to control everything.
Donald trump has successfully influenced more anti gun laws the last 2 administrations.

@sophiakstiles he explained that. He also said “or other presidential candidates.” Which could only refer to the Dem’s, so why haven’t you latched on to that? His entire rant is about the “climate crisis” so why not blame Bernie or Warren while your at it? So yes, you’re conflating it to fit a preconceived narrative. Read it for yourself. Until then, enjoy your evening.
