Another mass shooting, another horrific day for America.

Multiple news organizations have reported the gunman in El Paso shared a racist anti-immigrant manifesto. If true, let us be clear: this would be yet another white nationalist domestic terror attack.

After each of these tragedies the US Senate, intimidated by the power of the NRA, does nothing. This has got to change. We need a president and a congress that listen to the American people, not the ideology of a right-wing extremist organization. The time is long overdue for Congress to stand up to the NRA and pass the common sense gun safety legislation the American people want.

But we cannot and must not stop with legislation. We must come together as a nation to reject this dangerous and growing culture of bigotry espoused by Trump and his allies. Further, we must seriously address the scourge of violent bigotry and domestic terrorism. Instead of wasting money putting children in cages, we must treat this violent racism like the security threat that it is. That means investing in law enforcement resources to combat the growing population of white nationalists who are engaging in violence.

That's why senators get longer terms so that there's a safe guard from a quick sacking of the country if everyone was replaced at once. Learn your position to govern according to the constitution and not the rest of the worlds governments. There's a name for people who constantly point to other nations saying thats how America should've. We call people like that unamerican.

quisquinn Isolation is stressful. We had our own mini shooting here in NE Portland on Friday, on my block. What was distinct about this situation I can’t say all together but a 30 year old sister is in custody after her 22 year old brother, a PSU sports star, ran out to the construction crew across the street asking for help, suffering from being shot, and as the crew was trying to help him he told them his sister shot him before he died - so no, not a mass shooting, a family one.
