“On a street that is predominantly owned by men and where every girl has a story of fear to tell, it was a a statement for us to take that space back.” @carlota_guerrero

This quote is talking about an unsafe street in a particular city that is known for high numbers of rape cases. The women painted and dressed in red symbolize the blood that has been shed by the sexual violence that has occurred there. To be vulnerable (nude) together and walk down the street in power despite the male gaze/threat is EXACTLY what Hugh Hefner would have wanted. Female Sexuality to persevere through violence. If you are not subscribing to @playboy for the love of women than you might need to re-evaluate yourself. No center folds can fix hate.

@collinmcalister men can actively choose to do better if they want to. men can teach each other and their sons to respect women’s bodies and to value them as PEOPLE. men can hold themselves to a higher standard and learn from the mistakes of other abusive or disrespectful men. men can be sexually attracted to women while also understanding that they are people and not objects. men can teach each other and their sons about consent. it is not hard. don’t tell me that you think that men are incapable of being decent human beings. it’s a choice

@collinmcalister well it’s good to know that all men are sexist, disrespectful pigs who view women as absolutely nothing other than less than human sex objects. looks like us women are all going to have to steer clear of men given that apparently there aren’t any real ones out there. hopefully someday if you ever have a son you’ll have the mind to raise him better than that, but seeing as you believe that this is simply just the way that all men are and that there’s no hope that it’ll ever change I doubt it.

@lunar.vogue I never said I didn't see your point but I'm asking you if you think it's realistic to induce the change you want to see with movements like this or if it just adds fuel to the sexual misbehavior fire? Not ALL men are like this but apparently enough for women to tear their clothing off and walk public streets in full view of families and underage children who I think you agree you wouldn't want to have penises flashed in their faces. I hope change is influenced here, but I doubt it.

@collinmcalister it is realistic to make change through movements like this and the thousands of others out there. women have been protesting in hundreds of different ways for ages. obviously this single movement or type of movement alone isn’t going to change everything over night, but it will spark conversation and thought. collectively, all of the existing movements out there and the voices of women can create major change it’s just up to men to listen and to teach each other

@collinmcalister the women in this photo are sexy and beautiful, you can acknowledge that, that’s perfectly fine. what you can’t do is touch or grab them without their consent, scream at them, harass them, stalk them, abuse them, etc. that’s the difference between being attracted to someone while respecting them as a person and objectifying them. that’s the point of this protest.
