There are two things I was the most afraid about before I started dedicating myself 100% to the competitions and the olympic dream last winter.
First one is that I would be too tempted to go rockclimbing instead of staying in the gym and climbing on plastic holds.
Second one is that I would hate training speed.
I am dealing all right with both problems. It has been fun so far. I have stayed absolutely motivated .
Now, there is the first real test ahead of me. I am on my way to Japan and between August 11-21, there be World Championships, which is the first option to get qualified for the Olympics. Top 7 from combined is qualified for the OG.
Pic of @lukasbiba in Chamonix. Note the rock behind - so close yet so far away for me right now😁

For me, competing is all about being quite robotic and disciplined and without emotion until the very end. I’ve watched you through the years and I know your passion for rock climbing, but I believe you deserve to do well in this. You’ve contributed loads to climbing. Don’t lose your focus and just concentrate on completing the training. It may seem arduous, but I know you’ll be kicking yourself and regretting it if you don’t keep going. You got this. Keep pushing forward and you’ll do great. ❤️👏

@thefitfisherman Hardly anyone will remember who won the first climbing competition at the Olympics, 20 years from now, but most will know who establishes the first 16a/9c+. Personally, I hope once you win the climbing discipline in the olympics next year, you go back to inspire us on real rock and advance the top grade one or two more grades and never look back at climbing competitions again, except for an occasionally visit to the World cups.

Does anyone else see the face formed by the snow on the mountains in the background? Creepy! Oh... about the other thing... it’s the OG’s... only once every four years... so worth the sacrifice when you are there standing on a podium with a medal around your neck.

although it is sad that almost all the other best climbers in the world in their disciplines will sit out the Olympics, because of the combination of all of them. The IOC is tone deaf to how this sport exists in the world, and there will be consequences to that.

Crush it Adam! I tried ‘speed’ climbing the other day. Hadn’t realised it is 6b+ or something - took me about 3 minutes 😂
Must be fun to do it quick, and let’s face it, a gong around your neck will make it all worthwhile!

You’ve got this Adam! I’ve never seen anyone push so hard for a dream and take the time to show us what it’s like. Keep fighting for that dream!
