If you answered my request for mental health related questions recently then it may be answered on the @listen.louder podcast out today! Cos I’m on it! Search “Listen Louder” in your favourite podcast platform or use the link in their bio 👋🏻 It can be really hard to talk openly about mental health - I feel lucky that I’m currently in a place to do so because that was 10/10 not the case during the first part of this year!! If you have a listen do come back here and let me know what you think 💭 thanks @wonderful_u for making me laugh about things that aren’t at all funny 👌🏻

i can’t wait to listen when i have a moment to do so! it’s so important to be open and honest and create a dialogue about this! especially coming from someone who is influential to others like you! i’m so glad that you are in a place that you can comfortably talk about these things ♥️ thank you! that first step really is the hardest. i’ve been dealing with depression & anxiety since i was just a kid. it was something my parents never brought me in for & something i was way too terrified to do on my own. even once i was past 18 i was still too scared. eventually it got really bad & i was afraid i would hurt myself if i didn’t get help so i went and admitted myself to the hospital. i was there for three days & have been going to counseling ever since. it’s gotten a lot better! i have brought myself down to one therapy session a month (which is really good, as i was doing weekly for a long time) obviously there are bad days, sometimes even spells of lots of bad days. that being said— overall the way i have changed & grown since i started putting myself & my mental health first is incredible. that first step is HARD, yes. learning new ways of thinking/coping & growing is hard. you’re not always going to be comfortable. but the payoff is WELL worth it. i’m so proud to say that i truly WANT to live now & not just for the little things i would plan to look forward to. for all of it. the good, the bad, every little bit in between. if you’re reading this & you are afraid to ask for help— just know that once you do it, once you say those words and make the first steps.. it just gets easier & better from there. if anyone needs to talk please don’t hesitate to DM me ♥️ lots of love & light to you gemma!!

It took me a while to work up the courage to listen. Because et he topic of mental health is both helping but also potentially really upsetting/triggering to me. But a lot of what you gals said made a lot of sense and I wanted to thank you both for using your platform to keep the conversation going. I don't think it's a coincidence that I was just able to tell my parents that I've been struggling with anxiety lately, and to a level they couldn't have guessed because I tend to conceal that, and it gets all the more easier when you live apart from each other. So thank you for your kindness, for your voice, and for that extra strength you unknowingly gave me today. ❤️🌼🌞

Thank u so much, Gemma! You are always so inspiring and speaking about important issues! I decided to make an appointment with a psychologist when I felt that everything was just too much for me, the mental load that I had (and I still have) was already beginning to affect me physically and I was really having a hard time. I’m having my first few sessions but I am very positive about improving and being able to be calm and happy. Everyone should go to therapy: mental health is IMPORTANT.
Love you💛

Gemma - I just finished listening to this episode of Listen Louder. I just wanted to say thank you for being so open and so candid about your struggles and your mental health journey. I relate so much to so many things that you said, and it helps me to know that there are others who experience the exact same things that I do. I appreciate your openness and your dedication to making mental health conversations the normal.

Hi Gemma, I really not used to post such comments and this one is not for me at all. I saw a tweet last day about a girl who is having hard time right now and she asked us for help. Can you please check @hannahbutlin996 account and see what is it about. I'll really appreciate it. ❤️ Please, it is not a scam or anything else. I'm really hoping that this happens for here because she deserves it. Love you.
