I'd love to know your thoughts on this? I have so many thoughts that I probably couldn't fit on a caption, and I think it's a very long and complex journey, but here are some things I'd like to see: A ban on advertising on diet products and cosmetic procedures. Everyone should be allowed to do whatever they like in private, but it should be kept off social media. More diversity in adverts, films, television. I'd love for EVERYONE to see themselves represented. Classes at school focusing on self-love & esteem. 🥰 I've talked about this before, but my journey with body confidence started at 14 when I grew 30GG boobs out of nowhere. Boys were vulgar and crass around me, teachers didn't let me wear the same clothes my friends were allowed to wear, and I was even given detention for hugging my brother because "people in the town wouldn't know he was my brother". I was sexualized and shamed before I was sexual. I became ashamed of my body, and wore 'frumpy' clothing and stopped wearing makeup so I could be taken seriously (and I was). It made me quite misogynistic in a way, because I believed you could pick between brains and beauty and looked down on girls who chose the latter. I still have Soo many insecurities around my body, which is why I ALWAYS want to show off my body and not succomb to the shame and sexualization. I guess back then, my body shape was only really seen in porn? I want to show your body doesn't define your worth or your morals. You can be sexy AND smart. I personally love that body confidence is now a hot topic and more people and brands are talking about it as it means we are getting somewhere. We all have and are entitled to different hangups and insecurities as we are all different shapes and sizes and exist in a world of unrealistic expectations and images, and where women can't even breastfeed because the female body is so oversexualised. Change is coming. 🌎💞」7月25日 20時33分 - ashleylouisejames
