Summertime Sadness. 💔
It's weird looking at these incredibly happy photos from the weekend, because whilst I was most definitely overjoyed during the festival, I have also experienced a lot of sadness this weekend. I live next door to a gospel church, and there was a wonderful and beautifully sad moment on Saturday night when they started singing Amazing Grace. I was overcome with sadness and I burst into tears, and it was exactly what I needed in that moment so I embraced that feeling. 😭💕
I think sadness is an emotion a lot of us struggle with or fight against. There's a lot of pressure on us all to be positive and happy, and not only is that completely unrealistic, pretending to be when we're not can come across as fake or impersonal. Sadness is necessary for others to empathise and help us.💧
Seeing sadness as a perfectly normal and acceptable emotion has been such a huge lesson for me, and one that has ironically allowed me to feel happier, and allowed my closest friends to understand me more and get closer to me. It was Inside Out, the Pixar film that anthromorphizes five human emotions, that showed me that sadness is a perfectly normal and necessary experience of the human condition. One of my favourite quotes from it is when Sadness says: "Crying helps me slow down and obsess over the weight of life's problems." 🌍💕
I'm often scared to show or express sadness online, because I don't want it to come across as an attempt for clout or attention, but I feel like no one talks about being sad enough. If you are feeling sad, don't feel the need to fight it and know that it's a perfectly normal feeling that will pass. Allow yourself to recognise your emotions, talk about it and cry with the person or people you want to, inevitably it will help them understand and be able to support you. Being sad doesn't make you a negative person, it makes you human. Also, I suppose this photograph is proof that while a picture tells 1000 words, it also conceals 1000 emotions, so remember to check in on your loved ones. 😀💕

andymurray75 Pressures of daily life can take you to the depths of despair. Sadness and crying is a release valve like on a pressure cooker that nature gives us so we need to use it xx
