That feeling when you find a vintage treasure 😭🥳
This is an antique summer kimono made of silk light as a feather. It was very small so I had it altered in width. That’s the amazing thing about traditional kimono - they are made from 12m long fabric bolt which has a narrow width about 40cm. When sewn, the width is never cut! Therefore excess fabric is just folded and fixed around the seams which allows for future alterations in length and width.🧵
The obi is upcycled with vintage fabric I found on a flea market 💕

このアンティーク夏着物は好きすぎ。昔の和装は小さいので、幅出しをした。着物を反物から仕立てると生地幅を切らないから、サイズはある程度に仕立て直せる。
