@jwoww to be affected by autism. All these people claim to be specialists but I'm letting you know that I have 17 years of experience of working with children from grades k-12 who have been diagnosed with autism. I've seen children totally change from kindergarten up until high school but I've also seen kids in high school who display behaviors including tantrums that could have been eliminated if the children were taught at young ages that the type of behavior would not be tolerated. Like I mentioned before your child will turn out the way you train them to turn out. I believe that experience is everything bc if you don't know what to do how are you expected to do the right thing with your child? Not every specialist has the experience either. When you see the progress or lack of progress children display you feel happy for the child and family or you feel disappointed bc the child was not guided in the right direction. @jaclaurita uses an amazing lady who uses music to teach children how to increase their speech and @jaclaurita's son has improved immensely regarding his speech and I believe it has resulted in the diminishing of his tantrums as well. I'm sorry for writing you a whole book on here. I have dedicated my life since I'm 22 to working with kids with autism and when I see new parents who have never experienced something like this before I feel obligated to reach out and try to help them bc I know that it's not an easy mission you are on. Im just letting you know that you're not alone and if you EVER need advice, help or just ANYTHING at all just ask me and I'd be more than willing to help you in any way that I can FREE of charge. It warms my heart to see a success story and I want you to have the successful outcome you deserve! #jwoww #jerseyshore #myfavoritecastmember #imyourneighbor #idontliveinjersey #butiliveoverthebridgeinny #autismawareness #lightitupblue #advocateforautism #workfornycdoe #mastersdegreeinschoolcounseling #bachelorsdegreeinpsychology #cunybrooklyncollege #poormansharvard #38gpa #thatmeans98average #almostgraduatedwithallas #60creditmastersdegreewith98average #workfornycdoe #nycdepartmentofeducation #workfornycdoesince2002 #ded

@jwoww remember early intervention is the key to EVERYTHING so if you need any advice I'm here for you because I understand exactly what you're going through and a lot of behaviors can be changed, improved or/and eliminated. It all takes the right reactions, responses, teaching, interventions and services to enable your child to reach his maximum potential NOW and not before its too late or a behavior that's learned and almost impossible to change. EVERY behavior/action can be fixed, changed, improved or/and even taught with the right approach and services that work for your child individually. What some people don't understand is that although a child shares a diagnosis that is the same as another child does NOT mean that the same approach and/or intervention and/or service will work for YOUR child! It takes time, patience and dedication to discover what works for YOUR child. I just want you to know that the #1 rule not all specialists inform a parent is that you MUST treat your child exactly the same way you would treat your child if he wasn't diagnosed with autism. For example, if your child started throwing a tantrum and hitting you in public how would you handle the situation if he wasn't diagnosed with autism? Whether it would be a punishment or a lecture the point is that you ensure that you treat your child that the behavior he's displaying is unacceptable and I understand that it is hard to do that bc you look at your child like they're throwing a tantrum out of frustration due to his inability to express himself (I may be wrong). The point I'm trying to make is if you feel the way that I just stated then your son should have a machine that speaks for him and he should be taught by a speech therapist how to use the machine in order to express himself. Another solution would be to have his speech therapist teach him how to ask for the things he wants if he is able to do so verbally. This way he won't have a reason to throw a tantrum for not being able to express himself and if he is able to express himself and is still throwing tantrums then he has to learn that his behavior will have consequences and he will NOT get what he wants.

@jwoww by teaching your son as an adolescent how to behave properly and not tolerating his tantrums you are ensuring that he doesn't turn into a teenager, even a grown man who still throws tantrums and actually acts violent towards people which can lead to a serious negative outcome when he is a big boy and no longer a child. This is why early intervention and treating your child as atypical child who does not have autism is so important. Remember children end up growing up to fulfill the labels they were given and how they were taught to act. I know it takes double the work in order to teach your son to act like an atypical person but the extra effort is all worth it in the end. EVERYTIME you need to teach your son something no matter how difficult it may seem forget that he's been diagnosed with autism and treat him EXACTLY as if you would treat him if he wasn't diagnosed with anything! It may take a while but eventually it will click and you will be amazed at how less he seems
