Fact: Grief has a different effect on individuals and as Parkes (1972) for example found, recently bereaved widows frequently complained that others avoided them and were noticeably uncomfortable when talking about the deceased. Imagine then when being told 39 babies had all been born dead and then a week later the Consultant whom delivered them was murdered whilst on holiday in Greece and the midwife then committed suicide - Silence? As Parkes (1972) stated Nurses and other so called health professionals are not immune to these feelings either - No Fucking Shit Sherlock! Nichols (1985), for instance, found that nurses working in a renal unit felt ill at ease and distanced themselves from patients and partners expressing negative emotions. In 1995 The Royal College Of Physicians and Psychiatrists published a report that suggested that a lack of confidence and unease in dealing with strong emotions might be partly responsible for the many cases of moderate to severe anxiety and depression that go undiagnosed and untreated by doctors and nurses in medical settings. As Skynner and Cleese (1983) argue, children who grow up in a social environment that discourages emotional expression, eventually learn to inhibit and shut off their emotions, because they feel ill at ease with them. Individuals are also noted to avoid situations that involve powerful emotions and yet a sudden death as Bowlby (1980) explains, the powerful expression of grief and sadness may combine uneasily with the causal event to remind us of our own personal vulnerability and mortality. In short, we are most likely to feel uncertain with emotion when it is negative in valence and potentially uncontrollable.

Fact: Yerkes-Dodson Law - A criticism that is sometimes targeted at the Health Belief Model, Theory Of Reasoned Action and like models is that they adopt the premise that health protective behaviour is guided by rational decision making, which creates an illusion of scientific precision (Steptoe and Mathews 1984; Leventhal et al. 1997). There is, however, a considerable body of research that indicates that this basic premise is fallible. Yerkes-Dodson Law predicts that high levels of anxiety affect our ability to think clearly. So it is not difficult to imagine a couple’s judgement would be more subject to the effects of stress and anxiety when having to decide whether or not to terminate a 20 week old foetus, because of a potentially serious abnormality, then when deciding whether or not to have their first child immunised. Hot and cold cognitions are different states of mind (Janis and Mann 1979; Zaborowski and Oleszkiewicz 1988). Cold is radiated with logical decision making processes that are essentially neutral in emotional or affective terms. Hot cognitions are associated with high levels of anxiety or low self-esteem and depression. Hot cognitions essentially occur when some aspect or component of the self is threatened. Who deliberately goes out of their way to split up a family? Who deliberately goes out of their way to create harm? Who deliberately goes out of their way to be create a distraction to create further distance between family members? That is a cold and calculated decision making process usually attached to the mindset of a Paederast and a cruel STALKING BITCH who has a calculated process to gain access to other people’s children with the intention to have sexual pleasures with the said children.

Fact: Self-Prerception
As Fisher (1973) embraces the concept of body image and why people react the way they do to certain situations, it is important to remember that we are not born with a fully developed sense of who or what we are. This is shaped by other the cumulative position about are past successes and failures. Our body image is shaped and influenced by mood states and as Fallon (1990) found women of an average weight typically overestimate their body size and shape, a misperception that is expressed in an extreme form in people suffering from anorexia nervosa (Garfinkel and Garner 1982). Personality traits are shaped by significant others and provide a measure of consistency that allows us to predict individual behaviour across a wide range of situations (Atkinson et al. 1993). Personal beliefs systems (Sulls and Mullen 1982) are shaped by the perception of ourselves and the world in general. So consistent abuse leads to lack of trust and self-worth. As Harter (1995) reflects upon the final component of self-esteem it is important to note that self-esteem is a reflection of how we feel about ourselves. So for instance when approached and told by a woman has never met before that she intends to break Ones marriage apart and also by another woman whom also indicated that she was the Step-Mother to Ones children and that she had come to collect them, are all indications of their affected mental health state. Markus and Nurius (1986) state that personal beliefs also play a significant role in determining what we attend to in our environment and how we interpret the information that is gathered. Any individual whom has a prior intention to cause harm to another innocent individual is in serious need of mental health therapy. In other words, never assume you know the full facts, because the truth is sometimes harder to swallow than the fantasy that many people live in Schlenker and Leary (1982).

Fact: Culture - Bilton et al (1987) states that much of what we know, and the perceptions that flow from it, is determined by culture, which has been described as the DNA of society. Culture is a major determinant of how we are educated and socialised and it influences the beliefs that are filtered through society to the level of the individual (for instance, 200 years ago, you and I might well have perceived slavery as the natural order of things, or sleeping around with another woman’s husband is the normal because it is a bit of a laugh). Despite the influence of culture, however, the individual retains a unique perception or understanding of the world, and the events that occur within it, that is the function of our particular experiences relating to education, parenting, gender, class and genetic make-up (Atkinson et al, 1993). Kagan (1987) suggests our personal perceptions define both the problem and the solution to it, so whereas a doctor who has just treated a HIV positive patient has a better understanding than a young girl whom disregards the risks of unprotected sex perceives the information differently due to lack of education and understanding. As Steptoe and Mathews (1984) have already proven individuals differences in perception often lead to conflict and confusion. However failing to pass information over to the Fathers of 39 dead babies so they could come home for the funeral which they missed, was not only cruel, but the most disgusting act of human depravity ever witnessed, echoed by the Fathers themselves when they found out.
