@mishcare why do you care?! Because she is proud! Because she is protective (understandable after a miscarriage and complications)! Because it’s right there and you never know when you will feel them move. They respond to touch from the outside-I always cradled my belly because it made my babies dance in the womb and I treasure every single kick and roll and hiccup from the inside out. Because that is how she holds her baby in her arms and in her womb at the same time. Because she loves her baby! Because she is excited, scared, terrified, entranced, anxious, restless, content, and over joyed! Because she is a MOM and her instincts know when her baby needs a reassurance, or when she needs to reassure herself. Because she wants to treasure every second, and not miss a single movement. Because it makes a great place to put your hands and balance yourself, and sometimes a girl needs to cradle and lift and hope it coaxes him/her off her bladder. Why do you care what another woman chooses is right for her body, her baby, her life and her pictures! Treasure every second @shawnjohnson and cradle away! It’s beautiful and us moms are here for it! You know how important moments in time are and each moment you feel like celebrating, why hold back? Other people’s misery and negativity should never hinder you from not taking for granted a single love connection and chance to celebrate human touch and its importance to the development and relationship with the tiny human God has gifted you with, and every beautiful moment of the journey!

I just watched your Instagram Story regarding your belly holds. I would love to say how much joy it brings my heart to see you proud and in love with your belly that holds within it the only person that will ever show you what pure love is. You are recognized by me as a person who after suffering a miscarriage was brace enough to try again and I see you cradling your belly because I know you value that and are answering the call of your motherly instincts. All beautiful all the time. You only get 9 months of this. Continue to cherish this. We should also remember that we (your fans) are sports fanatics and feel that to that end we need to unite as a team and lift our Captain (you) and our Co Captain (your husband) up so that the rest of us are also lifted to the greatness of victory that unconditional love will bring us all. Nothing but love here. #TeamEastOnVictoryWeFeast ❤️?❤️

One common denominator to this “holding your belly” issue is all the women are from a WAY older generation. To them this may or may not have been a thing to do back in the day- this day and age, lots of women do this for various reason - to show the belly bump, to show we are not fat, to show how big we are getting, etc. numerous reason and all of which don’t have to be explained. But it was interesting that all the comments about why you’re doing something @shawnjohnson are coming from a different generation of women. Tbh it honestly doesn’t matter why but it might be a bit odd for that generation to see so many new moms doing this “pose” so I’m assuming that’s why the question has been asked SO MANY TIMES! ??♀️ lol

@shawnjohnson I just watched your stories from today and I wanted to give you a shout out! I have been saying for years how all mamas need to stop the hate and work together! We all need to lift each other up and encourage each other through this crazy time known as motherhood! All of the mom shame and mom hate in this world tears me up. Encouragement and love are the only ways to help bring mom communities together. Shawn, I just want to tell you that you are amazing! You bring so much life and happiness to this world. I love to see pictures of your growing belly and can’t wait to see new baby when he or she arrives. Thank you for being an inspiration for myself and my girls! Blessings.

I hold my belly all of the time! I am so proud to say I’m going to be a mom and watching my little girl grow every two weeks (I get frequent scans due to me having a heart issue and autoimmune disease) I totally understand! And after a while your stomach gets heavy! Keep rocking that baby bump and your pride of becoming a mama! @shawnjohnson @andrewdeast side note, I met Shawn back when I was 9 or 10 at chows for a gymnastics meet! Would love to meet you again! :) Andrew you will be an awesome father and you’ve shown that already by being so supportive of Shawn!

@mishcare because it is a natural thing for a woman to do while pregnant. But if you wanna be a hater over a lovely thing like putting a hand cradling her belly/baby then maybe you should not follow Shawn because she is not the first one to do this. Almost pregnant women do. Its actually kind of ignorant actually for you to make that comment. I would delete your comment before even more people say the same thing to you. Maybe think before you comment next time. Or google it to find out just how common it is. ✌?
