Mr. T Experience says - “Seems like it was only yesterday nothing to do and nowhere to play but then we could go down to Gilman Street and see Op Ivy every week no violence drugs or alcohol just maximum rock and roll at Gilman Street it's the place to be it's the seat of the punk rock scene cause we got the beat and we don't eat meat it's a club it's a place it's a thing and if the band is hell of rad Tim will start to bounce his head all the kids will jump on the stage and they'll hit the microphone in your face and you will get a fat lip in the pit at gilman it's a safe retreat for a zillion punk rock bands cause they've got the club and it's not enough but at least it's not Bill Graham it's Gilman Street Radley does the sound Honey watches the door and James McKinney sweeps the floor Isocracy made a mess we demand nothing less and if you've got nothing better to do there's a meeting every sunday afternoon and you can make a speech you can rant you can rave you can preach at Gilman Street it's democracy it's just one big family it's a bunch of geeks it's a load of freaks it's a club it's a place it's a thing it's Gilman Street”

I remember growing up and working for free at Gilman st just so I can watch the headliner for free. This place wasn’t just a music venue it gave us kids a safe place to be us. Skateboarding was hated then, if you where punk, society hated you, and Gilman st let us be us. Nobody judged us. The bands and the crowd were one!

Tre, I have confronted members of The Million Dollar Band at The University of Alabama and treated them like Lynyrd Skynyrd: “Play Basket Case!” It is our tradition. And let me respond—the truth is that I was very level headed during games when I was younger—when we were ahead.

Green Day is for me such a part of early teenage years, which will always be with me and it is beautiful. Each album and song carries a memory of a specific period in my life and listening to it I'm bringing back to myself what I felt and what I was thinking about at the time

I loved those days. I lived far away but I had a few friends there who would always send me vhs tapes and extremely poor quality cassette recordings and I was hooked right away. I actually had 1039 smooth playing in my car today.

I love Gilman Street. I’ve seen rancid as a three-piece there. Green Day. Mr. T experience. Blatz. And most importantly, my band FYP got to play there. That’s the night I met Jesse luscious. Real good times.
