🌊TESS ON THE BEACH 🌊 Bask in the brilliant glory of @テス・ホリデー on the cover of our July Beauty issue. Tess opened up to NYLON’s Editor-in-Chief @gabriellekorn about everything from her abortion to her evolving understanding of her sexuality (she thinks pansexual describes her better than bi). Tess also talks with Gabrielle about what it’s like to experience both sides of cancel culture, the damage done by current beauty standards, and, of course, how good her butt looks in her bathing suit—very! Get to know this fierce, complicated, fucking funny, gorgeous superstar at the link in our bio—and get excited about all the beach beauty inspo in the photos within. #effyourbeautystandards #tessholliday

@letsbereal_0 the point is, nobody looks at these pictures and thinks 'that's so gorgeous. I'm gonna gain weight and look like her'.... It's not a pro obesity campaign. It's about everybody having the right to be happy. Everybody living themselves and being beautiful. She's just fat, nothing more. You may think that it's bad because it's unhealthy but there are a lot of unhealthy people. Doesn't give you the right to take a piss at their happiness and self-love. Mental health is just as important. Tess is a advocate for that. To not be unhappy, spent live in the shadows. Hating yourself for the rest of your life because you're obese. She's showing that you need to live life to the fullest and do whatever you want, because life is short and you have the right to be happy. That's the signal. Pro happiness not pro obesity

@melissa__munster ...and you’re saying all this as someone who was never obese. Okay. Cool. Losing 15kg is not the same as losing 50kg, so I’m pretty sure we can just stop with the false equivalence. I’ve lost that amount too, but there’s a point at which there becomes stubborn areas that just don’t budge, and this can be compounded by being big for a long time, or having babies that changes your body (both of which are factors for Tess.) I’m not gonna continue this conversation any further because I don’t see what can be gained for either of us except it dissolving into nastiness, and I’d like to avoid that. All I can hope is that you gain some compassion and warm to the fact that fat people are allowed to exist, privately and publicly. Peace ✌?

hello nylon, you are in public and why are you promoting obese people? Tess holiday has nothing to do with feminism, health or standard beauty. If you watch Tess for medical reasons you will see many very many fat cells. limited movements (she has a child, how does she want to play or move with him?). How does she want to get her body health at age 60/70? Why do you support a woman, especially in the US, where many are overweight, that is a sick attitude. Clearly anyone can do what they want, look the way they want, but most overweight people will consider them as idols, not losing weight and not getting well. I am disappointed with you. you have no responsibility and no professional attitude, you manipulate sick readers! @nylonmag

@vini.araujjo @melissa__munster I think judging someone else’s situation without being a doctor, knowing their medical history, trauma history or any relevant information is pretty shortsighted. Have you guys personally been obese? It isn’t easy to just lose weight or be “disciplined”. Our bodies don’t all lose or gain weight with the same level of effort. It doesn’t kill us to be kind. Nobody, even Tess is saying that this is the optimal way to live life. People deserve to feel okay when they are this size, though. Sexiness or confidence or even respect shouldn’t be reserved for those you feel have “earned it”.

@melissa__munster so, let me see if I have it correct — in your eyes, fat people should be ashamed, trying constantly to be better and definitely not ever have jobs as models, because fat people shouldn’t get cool clothes to wear or see them on someone the same size as them...? So basically, exist quietly until your an acceptable size? Girl, come on. I hear what you’re saying with health, and it’s awesome that you lost weight, but it’s okay to love yourself. There’s more important shit in life than hating yourself for years while failing at a diet or never gaining enough weight to be satisfied.
