@theponzifactor It is no more imaginary than any asset. Value comes from what people agree to make of it. The dollar as well as a block of gold is exactly the same way. The people exchanging such assets determine its value in real time. But equity assets go beyond that, they not only have the value that is determined during an exchange, but they also produce for you over time, hence they are called "productive assets". A little self education would clear this up for you in days, rather than "thinking deeply about it" with your own thoughts, challenge yourself to make sure you are not wrong, if you are right you have lost nothing, and if you are wrong, you would have saved yourself from error. Read the annual letter and book I reccomended above, if you actually care about learning this topic. If not then all I can say is, I hope you do learn to love to learn one day. Again, good luck ;)

@theponzifactor pay dividends? No, but pay shareholders? Absolutely. You should start by learning how companies work, how ROI works, and what produces best ROI first, and you will learn why dividends in most conditions hurt ROI. An investment of $10,000 on Berkshire Hathaway's estimated 1964 stock price in 1964 would have generated around $100 million, excluding the 1967 dividend payment. You can choose to continue hating and hurt yourself, or you can choose to go and actually learn how this man has done what he has done. About dividends specifically, look up his annual letter where he explains when dividends do and don't make sense for shareholders. Also, I recommend the book "The Outsiders". It explains asset allocation wonderfully. Good luck ;)

Guy is such a hypocrite. He doesn’t take a salary commensurate to his role in his company ,he earns huge amount of qualified dividends and capital gains taxed a a much lower rate. He gifts all his his money after death and his his estate avoids 30 billion in taxes. Then he criticizes other high earners saying they pay too little in tax. Let’s see how generous he would be if he their was no charitable deduction for estates

I’m no expert but with the help of @Alicia_trader01 I’ve been earning passively from the comfort of you home with minimum investments,a trial should convince you I was once skeptical about this my self.

@janwarnotes ?I worked in finance for 10 years and uses to recite exactly what you just said to others. But then I thought about it at much deeper levels and realized the difference between an imaginary asset value that comes from the exchange of money between investors and the money that is being exchanged.
Go think about that ?
