Well, it’s official— I could eat figs for every meal. Purple and green, sweet and savory. Practically a perfect food 😇 and easy peasy to prepare. #soyouthinkyoucanfarm👩🏻🌾 #motherfigger🙋🏻♀️ #gettinfiggywithit🤣🤦🏻♀️👵🏻

Roasted Figs with Goat Cheese & Pine Nuts
1. Cut figs in half and remove the stems.
2. Drizzle with balsamic vinegar and salt.
3. Roast at 200 degrees for 2 hours.
4. Turn up the oven to 275 degrees for another 30-45 minutes, or until they look carmelized and delicious.
5. Toast some pine nuts in a dry pan.
6. Garnish the figs with the pine nuts, some goat cheese, a little more balsamic and a drizzle of honey.
7. Yum.

Love figs but when I found out about them they kind of turned my stomach. "If a fig wasp enters a female fig accidentally ― the ones we eat ― instead of a male one, there is no room in the interior for it to reproduce. And it cannot escape, because its wings and antennae have broken off. So the wasp dies inside, which is unfortunate but necessary because that’s how it delivers the pollen giving us the fruit we love. Then it says something about the enzyme eating up the dig wasp. Your post looks delicious though??

My grandfather in law use to have tons of fig trees, did you know they propagate on their own, once you have a good sized tree, lay a branch over on the ground and hold it down with a cinder block until a new sprout starts up to form a new tree. He use to have rows and rows of them by doing just this. I'm a fig lover too! Btw when I was a kid climbing my grandmothers giant old fig tree was the best, I love your "cooking shows"!! Blessings

What also works really well instead of balsamic vinegar is pomegranate molasses. The real stuff, without added sugar. It is pleasantly tart, with just the right thickness for sweet or savory dishes. And as soon as figs are in season this corner of the world, I’m giving your recipe a go! ?

@jennifer.garner I’m loving the fact that your baking pan looks very well seasoned! It drives me nuts seeing pans that look like they’ve never been used. Who has time to scrub the darn thing like new every time. You by far are my favorite “chef” and I love your “prented” cooking shows.
