thatbfunlife @pen.paint.digital I understand that many other countries aided in Normandy. However...did their Lady Liberty shine bright/go dark? No, because that was an American specific event. I think that's why the caption reads as it does. It's no secret or hidden fact that it was a joint effort, however the context of the caption is simply highlighting how America used the lighting of Lady Liberty, or lack thereof. If they wrote an article about Paris & the great Eiffel Tower, and talked about how they honored the troops - I wouldn't expect them to bring the US into it. If that makes sense.
