Not a lot is known about the monastic hermitage atop Katskhi Column in Western Georgia, so legends have filled in the gaps.⁣
⁣
Some sources say that it was built around the 7th century, some guess the 9th or 10th, and that it was in use until at least until the 13th. it remained unclimbed in modern times until the 1940s.⁣
⁣
The Georgian Orthodox church is rebuilding the ruined church at the top, as well as an entire visitor's center and, I'm guessing, a much bigger gift shop.⁣

Women are not allowed to climb to the top because women.⁣
⁣
More on hubs and I visiting this currently quiet spot in the hills of north western Georgia on the IG stories right now.⁣
