Back in the fall of 1978, I was invited by Kim Il-sung himself to visit his country. I was given an unprecedented opportunity to take his picture in his office over the course of 30 minutes. A photograph of him, me and three others appeared on the front page of his party newspaper. Ever since, I have continued to visit the country and its neighboring areas. I’ve in fact just returned (May, 2019). . It has taken me 42 years, and 28 visits, to complete my coverage. The ICP in New York is courageous enough to be publishing a book of over 650 pages of this work in January, 2020 (Portrait of a Dynasty, North Korea: 1978-2019). I believe the book is fascinating, and that it will be remembered in history. .
