Gotham has come to Marseille. Artist @alexisrael‘s show at @marseillemodulor, the contemporary art centre atop Le Corbusier’s Cité Radieuse, is an ambitious homage to Batman, specifically to the 1989 movie directed by Tim Burton. A spectral Batmobile takes centre stage in a former gymnasium, brought to life with wafts of smoke and the grumble of engines, while on the rooftop, a powerful Second World War era projector sits at the ready to cast the iconic bat logo onto the night sky. ‘We decided on the installation without realising that the Bat Signal in the movies was CGI,’ explains @ora_ito, founding director of MAMO, ‘so this is the first time a real Bat Signal has shone above a city.’ Read more via link in bio.
