Happy self love Sunday my friends❤️ I woke up this morning thinking about pain, & how / why we should deal with it. Something I’ve learnt this year is that no matter how hard I try to suppress it, or how deep I think I’ve buried it, pain & trauma & hurt can not go away on their own. And you can put it off as long as you want, but the truth is that on some level, these suppressed feelings are affecting your relationships, or your behaviour, your thoughts, the way you feel about the world, your happiness. You will find that life becomes much easier, and you will become much happier, and more authentically ‘you’ when you address the things you don’t think need addressing. You can put shit in a box & tape it up & put it in the attic & try and forget about it all you want. But the shit is still gonna stink. It’s not going anywhere. And it’s not easy!! We know that! Once you open it up, that’s when the real work begins. Start by talking about it. Start by writing it down. Start by allowing yourself to revisit the memories. Sit in the flashbacks. Let yourself cry. Talk about it some more. Let it sit with you. Forgive yourself. Forgive others. Thank them. Learn from it. Be gentle with yourself. It will take time. It won’t be comfortable. But at the end, you’ll open yourself up to experiences you didn’t think possible, and meet people you didn’t think could exist. Your clarity of thought and meaning in life will come into focus and you’ll feel like yourself again. It’s a process. But you’ll be so thankful. It’s worth it, truly ❤️
