Burgundy was the color of the wall drapery on which the art hung in the Guggenheim’s Thannhauser Gallery when it opened in 1965. But we wanted the visitor to approach the exhibition with a fresh perspective in Bilbao and decided instead to go with bold contemporary graphics and select walls painted black to make the works pop.
