Meet the frilled-neck lizard (Chlamydosaurus kingii). When threatened, it opens its mouth and flares its frills in hopes of intimidating the foe. If a predator isn’t deterred by this display, the frilled-neck lizard may quickly retreat by climbing up the nearest tree or defend itself with a bite using its sharp canine-like teeth. This extravagant reptile is native to Australia, where it lives in dry woodland.
