Photo by @Cristina Mittermeier | In French Polynesia, there is more ocean than land and the sky stretches like a painting in every direction. French Polynesia is a part of the Polynesian Triangle; a region of the Pacific Ocean where a collection of islands from Hawaii to Easter Island were formed in the wake of volcanic activity and coral growth. Around 75% of the world's coral reefs are in distress; threatened by warming water temperatures and climate change. The reefs around French Polynesia have not gone unaffected, but there are people working every day to lessen and alter the impact of local and global pressures on these island reefs. #FollowMe at @Cristina Mittermeier and explore my feed to learn about @coralgardeners, an incredible youth-lead organization that is bringing new life to coral reefs in Moorea. #coralreef #ocean #climatechange #WeTheReef
