The exhibition spans 60 years of Hockney's life — from his time as an art student in London to his iconic depictions of southern California. Hockney's Mr and Mrs Clark and Percy 1970–1 is one of 125 artworks from Tate's collection on display in the exhibition. It's one of a series of large double portraits which Hockney began in 1968. This portrait is of his friends, the fashion designer Ossie Clark and Celia Birtwell, shortly after their wedding at which Hockney was Ossie's best man.
