The #Library of Exile: Following the announcement that his exhibition was set to travel to the British Museum, artist Edmund de Waal gave us a special tour of his powerful and moving #exhibition at the Ateneo Veneto.
With 2,000 #books, in translation from 32 different languages, the work honours writers across cultures and the centuries, who have been forced to flee their own country. These are housed in a white unit, coated by De Waal in a porcelain slip, and inscribed on its surface with the names of various, famous #libraries now lost to us: from Alexandria’s in ancient times to Mosul’s in the present day.
