In some ways, there’s a template for being a teenage girl in America: going to school, hanging at the mall, staying up late texting friends and studying for tomorrow’s test. But for the “valley girls” of #RioGrande, the borderland where Mexico and the U.S. meet, life is bilingual, binational and often riddled with the daily drama of poverty and deportation.
