It was the day after I had shot this photo which was maybe the best session of waves I had ever documented. After I recouped all my gear there was a period of 5 years after that I was uninsurable. It was a terrifying experience trying to run a photo business in my 20’s. . I remember literally pouring salt water out of my camera body and big lenses off the side of this ponga boat after a wave had impacted the bow where I was shooting. The driver who smelled like he had a pretty rough night was asleep at the wheel drifting into the impact zone. A hard learned memory that sticks me every time I look at this set of images.」5月6日 3時07分
