I always believed everything I was told by anybody who was older than me because I didn’t expect them to lie. I didn’t question the rules, blindly believed people were good and wouldn’t want to hurt me and did everything that I was asked to do with a smile on my face. Shortly after starting school I began to be bullied for being too soft, too shy and too gentle - I became a doormat in life - which carried on until my teenage years. I gradually realised how selfish, cruel, greedy and spiteful people can be to those who have good hearts. As a teenager I fought back because I had a voice, a mind of my own and a right to be myself - even if I didn’t fit in with others. I’ve never been one to follow the crowd or make excuses and I often choose to be alone rather than around people who aren’t genuine. I wanted to share this post today because seeing this picture of me as a child breaks my heart at how sweet, kind and innocent I was and how I suffered so badly for it growing up. Good people shouldn’t be used and abused my darlings, they should be cherished and respected because there’s not many of us left in this world.
