KAI Anjin is a hot spring ryokan in the coastal city of Ito (伊東) of Shizuoka Prefecture, and is designed as an art space with a maritime theme. This is the San Buena Deck, a spacious outdoor veranda that mimics the deck of the ship San Buena Ventura, the first ever Western ship built in Japan by the blue-eyed Samurai - Miura Anjin. I’m glad I get to know the story behind this ryokan with an English touch (there’s a really interesting short movie shown at the lobby nightly), it definitely made the stay so much more meaningful. 🚢 .
