That's what I was discussing on @gmb this morning. 🙆🏼‍♀️ I say no, it's never ok even though I once found out an ex was cheating on me because I checked his phone. 💔 But here's why I think it's wrong: To have a healthy relationship you have to trust each other unconditionally and respect each other's right to privacy, personal space, and the right to have a life that extends past your relationship. If you feel insecure in a relationship this can be for two reasons: your partner's behaviour is giving you reason to doubt them, or your own trust issues are making it hard to believe you are enough for someone. Both of these reasons need face to face communication, and if it's down to your own insecurities you can't punish your partner and restrict is right to privacy. Ultimately once you start checking you're dooming your relationship and making it toxic, as you're looking for something that might not be there and are likely to take things out of context. ❤️ Looking back, I didn't need to read my exes phone to find out he was cheating. He wasn't making me feel loved or secure, and I should have had the self-love and self respect to walk away without needing any proof or receipts.
