In the city center alone, there are about 80 bridges, the most famous being Magere Brug. Because of its reliance on waterways and bridges, Amsterdam’s main modes of transportation are trams and bicycles. It is estimated that there are over 800,000 bicycles in the city! The Day to Night series began in 2009. These epic cityscapes and landscapes, portrayed from a fixed camera angle for up to 30 hours, capture fleeting moments of humanity and nature as light passes in front of the lens over the course of a full day. Blending these images into a single photograph takes months to complete.
