The Democratic presidential primary is bringing new attention to how white-collar crimes are prosecuted.
2020 candidates want Wall Street executives locked up for crimes committed on their watch, but it’s just not that easy, warns Former FBI Director James Comey.
White-collar cases require prosecutors to show that the person they’re charging knew what they were doing was wrong at the time, Comey said.
"Show me that these bank CEOs, when they engaged in these transactions, knew they were involved in a fraudulent transaction. It is incredibly difficult to do," he said.
You can read more on what Comey, who was once the top prosecutor in Manhattan, said on the issue, at our link in bio.
