Presidential hopeful Beto O’Rourke is addressing what could be one of the election’s biggest issues: Silicon Valley's tech giants.
O’Rourke said he would rather see Big Tech regulated than broken up. That’s in contrast to candidate Elizabeth Warren’s proposal to dismantle tech giants like Facebook and Google. Warren’s proposal stems more from concerns around competition, while O’Rourke seems to focus more on user privacy and abuse of ad-based business models.
The companies “can be used, wittingly or not, to undermine our democracy and affect the outcomes of our elections,” O’Rourke told CNN.
