ケイト・ナッシュさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ケイト・ナッシュInstagram)「In 2010 me and some friends went around to 6 schools in the UK to do songwriting workshops for girls. At the time I was severely depressed from being overworked after my first record, unsupported by the men around me in the industry and demotivated. I felt like women were facing so much sexism that I could hardly see the point in continuing. After realizing my unstable emotional problems were not sustainable, I decided the only way to move forward was to help create opportunities for girls in the future. Maybe this would give me hope and focus. This is still one of the most valuable experiences I’ve had. It inspired me, it connected me, it motivated me and gave me so much joy. The girls were so sincere, so deep, so important. They wrote amazing songs and after a year of workshops and writing sessions they opened for me at Queen Elizabeth Halls. Their journey & development was so beautiful to watch as they grew more confident and found their voices. My friend & lighting engineer @paulatrounce took these pics and has since gone on to create @shadowmewomen where you can shadow women in the live/music touring industry to create more opportunity and jobs in a space that is predominately male. Linda @boomvision went on to become one of the founders of the charity @girlsrocklondon a music project for girls and women to create space for women of all levels of experience to make their own music. Emma @musicovermatteruk is now studying her masters in music therapy & psychology and created music lessons specifically for children with SEND. I’m so proud of these women and grateful for their work in the music industry. It’s really exciting to see more of these things pop up, more opportunities for women, and those who identify as women, more safe spaces, more support for female talent and more female driven bands out there.
