Hi guys happy Sunday! By now you know I donate my social media to our @yearsofliving team once a week to talk about carbon pricing. I took this photo on a magical evening in NYC a few months ago and every time I look at it I’m reminded of the peace and tranquility even a busy city can posses. Felt like a perfect fit for today’s #putapriceonit post from Cosima Balletti-Thomas, a senior at Fordham University in NYC. (Also, many of our leaders are participating in today's global youth climate strike, which is taking place in more than 90 countries.) “Having been raised in the suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri, I may not know what it is like to grow up next to the ocean or adjacent to a vast forest and witness their deterioration from climate change; however, I have had experienced my fair share of natural disasters, which are becoming increasingly frequent and destructive due to global average temperature rise.
Living in Manhattan today, I constantly hear the horror stories of Superstorm Sandy and notice the “High Water Mark” signs posted throughout the Lower East Side to remind people of the catastrophe. My point is that regardless of where you live, you, everyone you know, and everyone you will know are affected by climate change. How many more disasters, displaced people, and degrees until we stop treating climate change as a partisan issue and finally commit to the global endeavor against it?
Putting a price on carbon emissions will not only help immensely in reducing both individual and collective CO2 emissions, but it will also encourage people, places, and corporations to act more sustainably and hold them accountable for neglect towards the environment. While nature is a self-sustaining powerhouse, humans are not and must rely on ecosystem services for survival. That should be reason enough to convince us and the politicians who are charged with the task of governing and protecting us to not only endorse but actively support the #PutAPriceOnIt campaign.”

SHOOT, SORRY...I DIDN'T MEAN TO POST THE OTHER MESSAGE YET! I'll finish this quickly! My point was, that regardless of not having the forests or the oceans... We still have the winters and the summers. I remember growing up we had some AMAZING BLIZZARDS! I'm talking blizzards where we were out of school for days, making igloos with our friends, out shoveling the elderlies properties as it was the right thing to do, but getting all excited as we were handed money by our other neighbors for cleaning their properties up... We have several parks in my town each with a few huge hills... Come snow season, those bad boys look like ski resorts "gone wild"!🤣😂🤣🤗 Then in the summer we would be out cutting grass, again making that money, unless they were elderly...I still remember a few ppl who insisted they give me something, to them .25c or .50c was a lot, lol...but hey, it's the thought and I wasnt expecting anything anyways...I use to go grocery shopping for all the older people on our street as well or just go sit and have conversations with them...I loved listening to the stories they'd share with me, some over lemonade, some over tea, others just good ol company! Hey, I seriously was a sweet child! If we weren't running around our street playing some type of game, riding bikes, it just hanging on one of our porches, we were at the pool, the largest in the county! Those days you could count on it... Not like today! Winters are hardly winter anymore! I HAVE TO PRAY EVERY YEAR FOR THERE TO BE SOME SNOW AT LEAST FOR CHRISTMAS! Come summer, heck, we have to check to see if it's going to rain or shine ALMOST DAILY, NO KIDDING!!! THEN CHECKING THE WEATHER'S NOT EVEN REALLY WORTH IT NOW A DAYS... CONSIDERING THE WEATHERMEN REALLY CAN'T EVEN GET THE WEATHER CORRECT ANYMORE!!! THERES SO MANY JOKES AND MEMES ABOUT THE WEATHER BEING FORECASTED INACCURATE AND THE PPL BEING THROWN INTO A PANICED STATE... IT'S HARD NOT TO FIND ONE! SO YEAH, ST. LOUIS, NEW YORK, PGH, or LA...MY POINT IS IT DOESN'T MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE OR GREW UP... IF YOU THINK ABOUT HOW THE WEATHER WAS TO HOW IT IS, YOU'LL REALIZE THAT CLIMATE CHANGE IS REAL, AND WE NEED TO MAKE CHANGES NOW!

I'm from the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA, though that's putting it losely being that 2 neighborhoods that are on one of our borders are city and my town is LITERALLY 5 minutes drive into downtown Pittsburgh, without traffic... however, I must remember to stay on point as I easily sway in many directions VERY EASILY, ESPECIALLY when speaking on a subject I hold near to my heart! So, like you, I haven't grown up next to oceans or forests, ALTHOUGH PITTSBURGH HAS IT'S OWN HISTORY FROM THE STEELE MILLS... CHECK THEM OUT... YOU'LL SEE HOW HORRIBLE THE CITY, THE WATERS, (WE ARE KNOWN FOR THE "3 RIVERS" THAT RUN THROUGH HERE), THE TOWN'S, AND THE PEOPLE WERE SO DIRTY AND COVERED IN SOOT... TO THE MAJOR TURN AROUND THE CITY HAD TAKEN TO IMPROVE AND BECOME WHAT IT IS TODAY!!!
