マイケル・フランティさんのインスタグラム写真 - (マイケル・フランティInstagram)「Amazing day at @nairobi_national_park We drive from our hotel in a big landcruiser equipped for serious off roading and then spent several hours driving through the 117 square kilometer park which starts on the edge of the city limits on the north side, but is infected on the southern side and pours out endlessly onto the African Savanna. Within the park there are miles and miles of red dirt roads that weave through the bush, trees, around watering holes and other bumpy terrain. Baboons, several different antelope, lions, ostrich, White and Black rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, hyena, water buffalo, an endless array of birds, lions and giraffe. We saw all of them except for the lions, but I was particularly moved by the Giraffes. We saw dozens of them and one of them passed right in front of us on the road. If you watch carefully you can see how giraffe are the only animals that lift both legs on one side off the ground simultaneously an incredible feat of balance when you’re 14.5 feet tall and weigh 2000 lbs. why anyone would want to shoot these majestic mammals for sport is beyond my understanding. In the National park they’ve succeeded in stopping poaching but in other parts of the continent it still happens.
