Happy #InternationalWomensDay ? We're so inspired by the strong boss babes in this industry, like @shannelmariano who's always willing to share her shear skills & #haireducation. --- #HairTutorial 3 different ways to create long layers, remove a bit of weight and to keep the perimeter thick. ____________________ Option 1️⃣: So much weight would be removed from the bottom half and the ends would be thin. Why? Because the bottom half is shorter on top and longer in the bottom. To top half will be so heavy. It would even leave a weight line. Why? Because the top half is shorter on the bottom and longer on top. ____________________ Option 2️⃣: A lot of weight removed, really short layers and thin ends. Why? Because it’s really short on top and gradually gets really long towards the last strand on the bottom. ____________________ Option 3️⃣: The top half will have long layers and some weight removed. Why? Because the top half is shorter on top (but not super short) and longer on the bottom. The bottom half will give her a thick perimeter. Why? Because all the hair on the bottom half fall to one point. ____________________ There are sooo many more options but I chose option 3 ...not because the others were wrong or ugly. I didn’t pick option 3 because it is the “right” way to layer either. I picked it because it was what was going to address what the client wanted. ____________________ “Short hair pushes long hair”. That’s really all it is. Before you cut the hair, take the time to look at it. Ask yourself, what will end up being short and what will end up being long? If it’s not you want it to be then keep trying something else until the short hair is where it needs to be and the long hair is where it needs to be. ____________________ Understanding “short hair pushes long hair” really helped me ...but what really helped me was learning to believe in myself enough to actually look at the hair and try to figure things myself. I didn’t always figure it out and that’s when I’d find help. But no matter what, I started gave myself a chance to figure it out first. #repost #cosmoprofbeauty #licensedtocreate #shannelmariano
