For two weeks, two ducks, a male and a female, have been grazing in my back yard in California. Today the female appeared alone. She left this. The ducks are nowhere to be found. Advice please.

They may have been frightened away and had no choice but to abandon the egg. If the egg has been left cold the little one inside will not survive. If you're asking can the baby be saved you could try to create a warm safe environment and see what happens. P.S. I know it's not normal but some Dogs and Ducks have become a family. 🐕❤️🐓(sorry my icons only have a Chicken) give it a shot. Great learning experience for kids.

@niavardalos it's my grandmother advice: Nia, take the egg and put it in front of a lamp or lit lamp. you can see if there is a duckling inside. Do it for about 4 days, always taking care to keep it warm. If there is no change, make a good omelet. XO

Asked a buddy who is a bird expert and he said that it’s probably not viable, but if you can try to find the nest, you can try to put it back and see what happens, but odds are some wild animal will get to it first

Put it somewhere warm and protected. You may have a new friend in a few days.Just ask anyone from Armidale about Pipi the duck and his friend Prince the Labrador.💙❤️

@niavardalos this is an opportunity!! You could incubate and hatch the egg and the the duckling will imprint you as it’s mommy!!
