Photo by @stephenwilkes | As the sun sets on the Rowe Sanctuary in Nebraska, the sky fills with layer upon layer of sandhill cranes coming in to roost. This was not only an overwhelming visual spectacle to witness but a magical thing to listen to. As the cranes approached, you could hear their honking, bugle-like call from miles away, growing louder by the second, until they filled the bright orange sky with their eight-foot wingspans and a symphony of sound.
