Photo by @Cory Richards | Alpinist Adrian Ballinger is pictured at our acclimatization camp, high over the Khumbu Valley's Island Peak, as we prepare our bodies to climb Everest without the use of supplemental oxygen. Island Peak is also known as Imja Tse, a mountain in Sagarmatha National Park of the Himalayas of eastern Nepal. The peak was named “Island Peak” in 1953 by members of the British Mount Everest expedition, due to its appearance as an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche, a Sherpa village in the Chukhung Valley.
