Ebino Plateau is the center of Kirishima area in Kirishima-Kinkowan National Park. During the winter, Mt. Karakunidake is exposed to cold wind that causes rime, completely blanketing the mountain in white. If you view from the foothill, the mountain looks as if it's snowcapped.⠀
The Ebino Observatory is about a 10-minute walk from the parking lot of Ebino Plateau. From there, you can enjoy the grand panorama of rime covered Mt.Karakunidake and fuming volcano, Mt.Iou.⠀
