Regram from @toromeandbacklacma: Meet Hygieia, the goddess of health. "The Hope Hygieia" depicts the goddess with a cup or chalice, in which she makes her remedies. The snake is a symbol of her father Asclepius, god of medicine. Hygieia greets us in the exhibition standing at 7 feet tall and weighing one ton. (She‘s even too tall for this post ?) This is a 2nd-century copy, circa 130–161, after a Greek original of circa 360 B.C. #ToRomeandBack
