No goggles needed—sea lions see better underwater than above the surface! ?? These pinnipeds spend a lot of time underwater, where the light level is reduced, so their eyesight is well developed. At the surface, where there is brightness and glare, the sea lion's pupil can contract to a tiny pinhole, protecting its sensitive retinas.
