"'Ingres Wood Seven' has been adapted from a work that was initially part of an exhibition at Villa Medici. I brought huge sections of a cut-down tree from the gardens of Villa Medici indoors to create a sculptural armature for an in-situ painting in the historically listed building. The pine tree was planted by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres when he was director of Villa Medici and felled just last year."

This large-scale sculpture by Grosse is now on view at MAXXI, Rome, as part of the museum's permanent collection.
