"I've always been a shapeshifter," says Kyla Carter (@_kylathecreator_), 23, a contortionist with limbs that move in the most labyrinthine of ways. "Growing up, people would see my muscles and equate them to being masculine, so I've always been on this journey exploring masculinity and femininity," says Carter, who now teaches classes at L.A.'s @thechoreographyhouse, the first Pole Fitness Alliance (PFA) registered studio in the U.S. "As a woman, pole dancing has empowered me and helped me establish what I personally believe is strong, as well as appreciate my body more.
