Bye-bye, hate speech.
Tech companies like Facebook, Google and Twitter are becoming faster at removing illegal hateful content from their platforms, the European Union found.
According to data released by the European Commission, the EU’s executive arm, tech companies removed 72% of hate speech in 2018. That’s a huge jump from 2016, when tech companies only removed 28% of hateful content.
The EU also found that 89% of flagged content was reviewed, which is up from just 40% two years ago.
