The U.S. trade deficit with China just grew to a record — and it’s likely even worse than the data shows. China’s trade surplus has grown 17% from a year ago to hit $323.32 billion in 2018. And according to Reuters, that’s the highest on record dating back to 2006. China’s Commerce Ministry said that talks to negotiate a deal were extensive and both sides are being recognized. However, a senior Chinese economist said that the overall outlook is hardly rosy.
